How do you make fast and easy eggnog?

Ingredients

* 1 cup whole milk

* 1 cup heavy cream

* 1/2 cup bourbon

* 1/4 cup cognac

* 1/4 cup dark rum

* 1/2 cup sugar

* 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

* 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

* 2 large egg yolks

* 1 large egg

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, bourbon, cognac, rum, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, whisking frequently, until the sugar is dissolved.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and whole egg.

3. Temper the egg mixture by gradually whisking the hot milk mixture into it, about 1/2 cup at a time.

4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 5 minutes. Do not let it boil.

5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

6. Serve the eggnog cold, optionally garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
