What happened to Quaker Oats R?
In mid-2023, the PepsiCo-owned oatmeal brand Quaker Oats announced that the iconic red “R” in its box logo would be removed following allegations and criticism of racial overtones and stereotypes of the letter “R” resembling and referencing racist cartoons caricaturing Black people that were commonly found in the early 20th century.
