How to Grind Wheat to Make Bread (4 Steps)
Make truly homemade bread from scratch by grinding your own wheat into flour. Inspired by a similar technique used by pioneers, this method uses modern conveniences to make the process less taxing. Look for whole wheat berries in health food stores where you might find them labeled wheat seeds or kernels. Not only will you have the freshest bread flour possible, but grinding your own wheat berries means that you will be using unrefined flour, complete with all of the nutrition of whole grains. This method also does not require the purchase of a separate grain mill, but it will require you to process your wheat berries in several batches.
