How to Make Cheddar Bay Biscuits Like Red Lobster's

Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay biscuits are basic drop basics punched up with garlic and cheddar. The restaurant has so much pride in the biscuits that a whole page of its media kit is devoted to them. Red Lobster claims it serves 1.1 million biscuits a day, and 395 million in a year. It also says the recipe is a secret, but does say not to knead the dough too much. It also says baking soda is one of the ingredients, though that element is lacking in this version. This recipe should still produce a biscuit that tastes like the real thing.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
  • Cookie sheet
  • Mixing bowl

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Combine the Bisquick, milk, and cheddar in a bowl. Beat the mix with a wooden spoon for about 30 seconds.

  3. Lightly grease a cookie sheet. Drop spoonfuls of the Bisquick mix onto the sheet. The portions should be no more than a spoonful for the biscuits to bake correctly. Leave about 1 inch between each spoonful of dough to give them all room to expand.

  4. Bake the biscuits for 10 minutes or until they are golden brown.

  5. Combine the butter, garlic powder and seasoning in a saucepan. Pour that over the biscuits. The biscuits are best when they're warm.
