How to Cut Banana Bread
Sweet, dense banana bread has a consistency more like a cake than sandwich bread. Slicing banana bread straight from the oven can cause it to crumble. Prepare the bread for slicing, and you will be able to serve whole slices without the bread falling to pieces.
Things You'll Need
- Aluminum foil or plastic wrap
- Bread knife
Instructions
-
Cool the bread to room temperature after baking.
-
Wrap the cooled bread in foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour. This tightens the crumb of the bread and keeps it from falling apart when you slice it.
-
Unwrap the bread and place the loaf on its side on a work surface.
-
Slice the bread cross-wise, starting 1/2 to 1 inch from the end of the loaf.
-
Continue to cut the bread into slices of 1/2 to 1 inch thickness until the entire loaf has been sliced.
-
Warm the banana bread slices in a toaster oven or oven, or serve at room temperature.
