Which bread company was the first to slice their loaves?
The first bread company to slice its loaves was Chil-Fill Baking Company of Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1928.
However, the idea of sliced bread itself was not entirely new. A few years prior, in 1927, Otto Frederick Rohwedder invented a machine to slice bread. However, he had trouble getting a bakery to adopt his invention. Chillicothe Baking Company was the first to take a chance and use his slicing machine.
