How did man discover flour?
The history of flour dates back to the earliest days of human civilization. As early as 10,000 BC, humans were grinding grains into flour to make bread and other food products. The first flour was likely made from wild grains, such as wheat, barley, and oats, which were gathered and then ground using simple stone tools. Over time, as humans developed more sophisticated farming techniques, they began to cultivate grains specifically for the purpose of making flour.
The earliest evidence of flour production comes from the Middle East, where wheat and barley were grown as early as 9000 BC. By 5000 BC, bread made from wheat flour was a staple food in many parts of the Middle East and Europe. In China, rice flour was being used to make noodles and dumplings as early as 5000 BC. In the Americas, maize (corn) flour was being used to make tortillas and other food products by the Aztecs and Mayans as early as 3000 BC.
The development of flour milling technology played a major role in the spread of flour and the rise of human civilization. In the early days, flour was ground by hand using a simple mortar and pestle. Later, water-powered mills were developed, which made it possible to grind flour more quickly and efficiently. This led to a dramatic increase in the production of flour and made it possible for bread and other flour-based foods to become a staple of the human diet.
Today, flour is used to make a wide variety of food products, including bread, pasta, cookies, cakes, and pastries. It is also used as a thickening agent in soups and sauces. Wheat flour is the most common type of flour, but other types of flour are also available, such as rice flour, corn flour, and oat flour.
