When do you harvest soy beans?
Soybeans are usually harvested in the fall, when the leaves have turned brown and the pods are dry. The optimal time to harvest soybeans is when the moisture content of the beans is between 13% and 14%. If the beans are harvested too early, they will have a high moisture content and will be more susceptible to mold and spoilage. If the beans are harvested too late, they will be dry and brittle and will shatter easily.
The harvest process begins by cutting the soybean plants down with a combine harvester. The combine harvester then separates the beans from the plants and the chaff. The beans are then cleaned and stored in a silo until they are ready to be sold or processed.
