When do I harvest garlic?
Hardneck
- Soft-necked garlic - When the foliage is 40% brown (usually from mid to late August)
- Scaped garlic - Harvest about 2–3 weeks after you removed the flower stalks
Softneck
- When the tops are yellowing or brown (~75% brown), which may be as early as late June but usually between July 4 and August 1, depending on your locale and when you planted.
- The scapes on softnecks ripen earlier than hardnecks, about a month after they emerge.
