How many types of beans are there?
There are more than 20,000 types of beans in the world. They can be broadly categorized into two main types:
1. Common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris): These are the most common type of beans and include varieties like kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, and navy beans.
2. Other beans: This category encompasses a wide range of beans other than common beans, such as soybeans, mung beans, adzuki beans, lima beans, cowpeas, and chickpeas, among others.
