What is the recipe for tomato bruschetta?
Ingredients:
For the Bruschetta:
- 1 ripe baguette
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
For the Tomato Topping:
- 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, diced
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
2. Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices diagonally. Brush each slice with olive oil and arrange on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
3. While the bread is baking, prepare the tomato topping. In a bowl, combine the tomatoes, red onion, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, basil leaves, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
4. Once the bread is toasted, rub each slice with the minced garlic.
5. Top each slice of bread with a generous spoonful of the tomato topping.
6. Serve immediately, while the bread is warm and crisp.
Tip: For extra flavor, you can brush the bread slices with olive oil and toast them on a charcoal grill instead of in the oven.
