How to Make French Fries at Home (4 Steps)

Homemade french fries can be much healthier than anything you buy at a fast-food joint for one reason. You decide how much salt goes on them, and they are baked instead of fried. Most varieties of potato will produce adequate fries, but russet potatoes will produce the longest fries.

Things You'll Need

  • Potatoes
  • French fry cutter or knife
  • 1/2 cup Olive oil
  • Baking sheet
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Wash and remove the skin from several potatoes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Cut the potatoes into strips using a french fry cutter or knife. The strips should be about 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch thick.

  3. Lightly spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Arrange the fries on it in a single layer. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of olive oil over the top of the fries.

  4. Bake the fries for 25 to 30 minutes or until they are soft and the tips begin to brown.
