How to Store Washed & Cut Celery (4 Steps)
Adding celery to your diet can improve your health. This vegetable is rich in vitamin C and has a series of health benefits: It helps lower cholesterol and regulate blood pressure and works as a diuretic. However, knowing how to store celery is just as important as having it in your kitchen. After washing and cutting, celery should be stored properly to keep it fresh and crisp for about six months.
Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Aluminum foil
- Plastic bags
Instructions
-
Pat the washed and cut celery pieces with paper towels to be sure they are completely dry before storing. Water left on stored celery could cause the vegetable to become soggy and limp.
-
Wrap the celery tightly in aluminum foil.
-
Place the wrapped celery in a small plastic bag, and remove the air from the bag before sealing it.
-
Store the sealed bag in the refrigerator. Be sure not to place it too close to the back wall of the refrigerator. That area is the coldest part of the refrigerator, and the celery could freeze, causing sogginess and limpness when it is thawed.
