How can dengue spread?

Dengue is spread by the female Aedes mosquito, which bites primarily during the day (early morning and late afternoon). These mosquitoes become infected with the dengue virus when they feed on an infected person and can transmit the virus to others when they bite them.

The transmission cycle of dengue involves the following steps:

1. An infected person (the source of the virus) is bitten by an Aedes mosquito.

2. The mosquito becomes infected with the dengue virus.

3. The infected mosquito bites another person, transmitting the virus to them.

4. The newly infected person develops symptoms of dengue fever, such as fever, headache, muscle aches, joint pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Dengue can also spread through blood transfusions, organ transplantation, or sharing needles or syringes with an infected person. However, these are not common routes of transmission.
