Who invented canned soup?
While the concept of preserving food in sealed containers has been around for centuries, the credit for inventing canned soup specifically goes to Peter Durand.
In 1810, Durand received a patent for a process to preserve food in airtight tin cans. While he didn't invent the canning process itself, he significantly improved upon existing methods and applied it to soup, making it widely available for the first time.
However, it's important to note that canned soup as we know it today, with its distinct flavors and varieties, was developed over time by many individuals and companies. Durand's invention paved the way for this culinary evolution.
