What eats chokecherries?
Many different animals eat chokecherries, including birds, mammals, and insects. Birds such as robins, cedar waxwings, and bluebirds are primary consumers of chokecherries. Mammals that eat chokecherries include bears, raccoons, squirrels, and skunks. Insects such as wasps, beetles, and flies are also attracted to the sweet fruit. The seeds are also eaten by squirrels, chipmunks, and voles. Chokecherries are also a food source for deer and elk.
