Can Diet Coke help migraine headaches?
The short answer: No
The long answer: Several small and limited studies (fewer than 50 people in each study) indicated caffeine was effective in helping headaches. More robust, controlled trials (up to 1,000 people in each study) demonstrate no benefit of caffeine alone.
Diet Coke contains very little caffeine, about 46 milligrams per can, which is too low a dose to be effective in relieving migraines. It does, however, contain a high level of artificial sweeteners, which some people believe may contribute to migraines.
