How to Make Puppy Chow Mix (3 Steps)

Puppy chow is a Chex cereal-based dessert snack that the whole family will enjoy. By adding peanut butter, melted chocolate and sugar to the cereal, you can create a snack that may look like dog food, but is irresistible to humans.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 box Chex or similar cereal
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 1 lb. powdered sugar
  • Sauce pan
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Large baggie

Instructions

  1. Place the butter, chocolate chips and peanut butter in a sauce pan. Heat on low until butter and chips melt. Stir until all ingredients are blended.

  2. Place the cereal in a large mixing bowl. Slowly pour the melted mixture over the top of the cereal, turning gently as you go. Coat all of the cereal. Allow to cool.

  3. Pour the powdered sugar into a large baggie. Add the coated cereal to the bag. Zip up the bag and shake until a fine layer of powdered sugar sticks to the cereal.
