What is mud pudding?

Mud pudding is a dessert which originated in the Southern United States. It consists of a graham cracker crust, a chocolate filling, and a topping of whipped cream or ice cream.

Chocolate filling:

- All-purpose flour

- Sugar

- Unsweetened chocolate

- Salt

- Milk

- Egg yolks

- Butter, unsalted

Whipped Cream Topping

- Heavy cream

- Granulated Sugar

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.

2. In a large bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, melted butter, and salt. Mix well until combined.

3. Press the graham cracker mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool.

4. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the flour, sugar, unsweetened chocolate, and salt. Slowly whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture has thickened and coats the back of a spoon.

5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Stir in the egg yolks and melted butter until combined.

6. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled graham cracker crust. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

7. Just before serving, top with whipped cream or ice cream. Enjoy!
