Shortcut Lasagna with Homemade Flavor
This recipe combines convenience with deliciousness, using store-bought ingredients for ease while still delivering a homemade taste.
Ingredients:
* 1 (24 ounce) jar of your favorite marinara sauce
* 1 (15 ounce) container of ricotta cheese
* 1 (15 ounce) container of shredded mozzarella cheese
* 1 (10 ounce) package of frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
* 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
* 12 lasagna noodles
* 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil (optional)
* 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
* Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. Mix filling: In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, spinach, Parmesan cheese, basil (if using), garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
3. Layer lasagna: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in the bottom of the baking dish. Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top, overlapping if needed.
4. Spread 1/2 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then top with another layer of 4 lasagna noodles.
5. Repeat layers: Spread remaining marinara sauce, top with the remaining ricotta mixture, and cover with the final 4 lasagna noodles.
6. Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
7. Rest: Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Tips:
* For extra flavor: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
* Make it vegetarian: Replace ground beef with sautéed mushrooms or crumbled plant-based meat.
* Use a different cheese: Try provolone, fontina, or a blend of cheeses for variation.
* Prepare ahead: Assemble the lasagna up to the baking step and store in the refrigerator overnight. Bake as instructed the next day.
* Freeze for later: Cool the cooked lasagna completely, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil, and freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat from frozen in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
This recipe makes a delicious and comforting lasagna that is perfect for any occasion. Enjoy!
