A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture in which the components are not evenly distributed throughout the mixture. In a vegetable salad, the different types of vegetables and other ingredients are not evenly distributed throughout the salad. For example, there may be more tomatoes in one part of the salad and more cucumbers in another part of the salad.
