When you put a potato in the ground how long should leave it there?
Potatoes should be left in the ground until the foliage has fully died down. In general this will take 10-12 weeks, but this time may vary depending on the weather and the variety of potato. To check if the potatoes are ready to harvest, gently dig up a few to check the skins are firm and not easily rubbed off.
