When making potato salad do you peel potatoes when hot or cold?
Potatoes for potato salad should be peeled when they are cold. Peeling hot potatoes can be dangerous as the steam can cause burns. Additionally, peeling cold potatoes is easier as the skin comes off more easily. To peel a cold potato, first wash it thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. Then, use a sharp knife to make a shallow cut around the circumference of the potato, about 1/4 inch from the top. Next, insert the knife into the cut and carefully work it around the potato, separating the skin from the flesh. Once the skin is completely separated, gently pull it off the potato. Repeat this process for all of the potatoes.
