When is salt form?
When an acid reacts with a base, it results in the formation of salt and water. This process is known as neutralisation. The general equation for a neutralisation reaction is:
Acid + Base → Salt + Water
For example, when hydrochloric acid (HCl) reacts with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), it forms sodium chloride (NaCl) and water (H2O).
HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H2O
In this reaction, hydrochloric acid is the acid, sodium hydroxide is the base, sodium chloride is the salt, and water is the product of the reaction.
