How to Make String Cheese
Cheese is one of America's favorite foods. String cheese, is an all time favorite snack. It is delicious yet still fun to eat. Kids and adults alike love string cheese. Have you ever thought about actually making string cheese yourself. Of course you have bought it in the store, but did you know that it is entirely possible to make it in your own kitchen? Although the process is not simple, you can make string cheese in seven steps.
Things You'll Need
- 1 teaspoon mahleb, middle eastern spice
- 1 lb mozzarella cheese curd
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- Plastic wrap
Instructions

Melt the cheese in a saucepan with all the seasonings. Make sure that the pan is set on low heat. Melt thoroughly.

Remove the cheese from the heat and drain all extra water.

Pick up the cheese with your hands once it is cool enough. Make a hole in the middle like a donut and stretch with both hands to make a loop.

Fold the cheese over and stretch again. Repeat this several times.

Stretch one final time and twist the ends in opposite directions. Loop the two ends together.

Place cheese in a dry area to set and dry.

Surround cheese with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator.
