How to Cook Little Beef Sausages
When it comes to fast, crowd-pleasing appetizers, little beef sausages are hard to beat because they can be heated in 10 minutes or less. They're usually precooked and only need to be reheated. For the fastest cooking, use a microwave. A slow cooker is the ideal choice for parties because the sausages will stay warm for hours. Regardless of the method you choose, keep the sausages warm and refrigerate the leftovers within two hours.
Crank Up the Heat
-
There are several ways to heat up little beef sausages. The quickest method is the microwave. Heat the sausages on "HIGH" in a microwave-safe bowl for 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on your microwave. Heat them only until they're hot, but keep a close eye on them so they don't overcook or explode. You can also heat them in an oven set at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the sausages in a shallow baking dish and bake them for 20 to 30 minutes, or until they're hot. For slow, lazy days, or when cooking for a party, toss the sausages into a slow cooker with a bit of sauce or liquid and cook them on "LOW" for two to four hours.
Keep It Safe
-
Most little sausages are precooked and only need to be reheated. Read the package label, just in case. Raw sausages must be cooked thoroughly before you eat them. Destroy harmful bacteria by heating the sausages -- especially raw ones -- to an internal temperature of 160 F, as measured with a meat thermometer.
Sauce It Up
-
Little beef sausages taste delicious on their own, but a savory sauce adds an extra kick. Make your own sauce by combining grape jelly, chili sauce, gourmet mustard or raspberry chipotle sauce, depending on your flavor preferences. Alternatively, use a simple barbecue sauce. Pour the mixture over the sausages and heat them in the microwave, oven or slow cooker.
It's in the Can
-
Don't forget the classic sausage and crescent roll appetizer. To make this savory and satisfying appetizer, unroll a can of refrigerated crescent rolls. Separate the triangles and cut each one into three smaller triangles. Roll each sausage in a piece of dough and place the sausages on a baking sheet. Bake in an oven set at 350 F for 10 to 15 minutes. Kids love these appetizers and they're fast, delicious and virtually mess-free.
