What can a toddler eat after tooth is removed?
Immediately After the Procedure
* Stick with soft foods and drinks, such as applesauce, yogurt, pudding, and smoothies.
* Water or Pedialyte can keep the mouth clean.
* Avoid milk and dairy products other than yogurt.
* Avoid juices like apple, orange, or pineapple since these are acidic.
* Avoid using a straw to drink.
The Day After and Beyond
* Soft, cold foods for at least 24 hours.
* Soft foods until the child doesn’t feel additional pain.
* Avoid straws for two weeks.
* Avoid hot, spicy, or very cold food and drinks.
* Avoid anything with small seeds, such as strawberries or raspberries, for several days.
* Gradually introduce other foods once the child is comfortable eating the soft ones.
