How to Make Mint Flavored Toothpicks
Freshen your breath even when you cannot brush by making your own homemade mint flavored toothpicks. A convenience offered at restaurants, toothpicks help you to clean between your teeth, but their woody taste does nothing for your breath. Mint flavored toothpicks cool the inside of your mouth with the taste of soothing peppermint. Peppermint oil differs from extract. Find this oil based product in craft stores with the candy-making supplies or in some supermarkets near the alcohol based extracts in the baking section.
Things You'll Need
- 1 box (100 count) toothpicks
- Glass jar with lid
- 3 to 4 oz. peppermint oil
- Baking sheet
- Air tight container
Instructions
-
Lay the toothpicks flat in the bottom of the jar. Stack the toothpicks in several layers if you lack room in the jar for a single layer.
-
Pour peppermint oil over the toothpicks to completely cover the toothpicks.
-
Tightly cover the jar with the lid.
-
Leave the peppermint flavored toothpicks to soak overnight.
-
Transfer the mint toothpicks out of the oil to a baking sheet and let air dry for one to two hours before storing in an air tight container.
