How to Fry Garlic Cloves (4 Steps)
It may seem like an herb used only to flavor other recipe components, but garlic stands up to the task of a main ingredient when frying it. Cooking garlic affects the flavors by replacing the natural bitterness of cloves with a sweet taste. If garlic is a favorite element of yours, feature fried garlic cloves as a side dish or potential spread for appetizer breads to taste the true essence of the herb.
Things You'll Need
- Cutting board
- Serrated knife
- 3/4 cup of olive oil
- Slotted spoon
- Paper towel
- Plate
Instructions
-
Remove the outer, paper-like peel from a garlic bulb. Place the bulb bottom-side down on a cutting board. Press down on a bulb of garlic with the bottom of your hand to separate the cloves.
-
Trim the roots of the garlic cloves off with a serrated knife. Peel off the skin that surrounds the clove with your fingers. Slice the cloves if you desire a mild flavor or leave them whole for bold flavor.
-
Heat 3/4 cup of olive oil per eight cloves of garlic in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the garlic cloves when the oil begins to pop and sizzle at about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Fry the garlic cloves for about two minutes.
-
Remove the cloves from the heat when golden brown with a slotted spoon. Drain the fried garlic cloves on a paper towel-lined plate.
