When is a Florida avocado ripe?
A Florida avocado is ripe when it yields to gentle pressure. You should be able to press your thumb into the fruit gently and feel it give a little bit. The skin of a ripe avocado will also be dark green or almost black. If the avocado is still hard, it is not ripe yet. If the avocado is mushy, it is overripe.
