How to Make Authentic Beef Fajitas (4 Steps)
Beef fajitas are a versatile treat that can be made in many different ways. Authentic versions typically wrap the beef, peppers and vegetables in a flour tortilla.
Things You'll Need
- 1 1/2 lb. flank or sirloin steak, sliced into thin strips
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 yellow bell pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. ground pepper
- 1 small can diced green chiles
- 1/8 cup of cilantro, chopped
- 12 flour tortillas
- Sour cream
- Guacamole
- Cheddar cheese -- shredded
- Salsa
Instructions

Slice the peppers into strips. In a large skillet, saute the peppers and red onion in 1 tbsp. oil until they are crisp and tender. Remove the vegetables and set them aside.

In the same skillet, saute the steak, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper in remaining oil for 2 to 4 minutes or until meat reaches desired doneness. Return the vegetables to the pan, and add the chiles and cilantro.

Heat the flour tortillas in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds. Place them in aluminum foil to keep them warm.

Spread guacamole on a tortilla, top it with the steak and vegetable mixture, and then some of the salsa, cheddar cheese and a little sour cream. Roll up the tortilla to enclose the filling.
