Where did fritos come from?

In 1932, Charles Elmer Doolin, a delivery salesman for the Highland Park, Texas–based Holsum Bread Co., purchased Mrs. Stelle Corriher's homemade, corn-based chips known as "Fritos." Doolin's company introduced them to the market as "Fritos corn chips" in 1935. Originally a regional snack, Fritos started expanding nationwide in 1942–1943 by using a network of independent sales agents, but faced competition from the new potato chip business of H. W. Lay. In 1945, Doolin sold the brand name and recipe for $1 million to the Dallas, Texas–based corn miller Elmer Doolin, who was president of the Frito Company.
