Why amphibians kosher?
Amphibians are not kosher according to Jewish dietary laws.
Here's why:
* Lack of fins and scales: Kosher animals must have fins and scales. Amphibians have neither. They have smooth skin and are classified as reptiles.
* Leviticus 11:9-12: This passage in the Torah lists the types of creatures considered kosher. It specifies that animals with fins and scales are permitted, but those that live in water and don't have these characteristics are not.
Therefore, amphibians are explicitly excluded from being kosher.
