How to Buy Matzo
Matzo is tasty at anytime, but for Jewish people Matzo is an essential food on the Passover holiday. Matzo is eaten at Passover to commemorate the Jews fleeing Egypt. Matzo is unleavened bread. Unleavened bread is bread made without yeast or other leavening agents.
Instructions
-
Be certain the matzo is strictly kosher. The rules regarding kosher (that is, fit for use according to Orthodox Jewish law) are strictly set forward and must be followed by Orthodox Jewish people.
-
Visit a large delicatessen. Many delis offer a selection of matzo to go. Fresh matzo from a good deli is sure to be the most satisfying matzo available.
-
Buy Matzo from a Jewish grocer. This is a surefire way to get one 100 percent kosher matzo. For matzo to be kosher it has to be prepared in a strict manner, and a Jewish grocer will guarantee the authenticity of the products he sells.
-
Pick up Matzo at large supermarkets. The ethnic food area of large supermarkets often has a section for Jewish food. The matzo sold in large supermarkets comes from the largest distributors of kosher foods.
-
Order matzo online and get it directly from the producer. Large kosher food producers (see Resources) have websites for ease of ordering.
