What are 5 kosher rules?
The following are five of the basic rules about keeping kosher:
1. Only certain animals may be eaten. These animals include cows, sheep, goats, deer, and antelope. Fish must have fins and scales, and birds must be from a list of permitted species.
2. Animals must be slaughtered in a specific way. The animal must be killed quickly and painlessly, and all of its blood must be drained from the body.
3. Certain parts of animals are forbidden to eat. These parts include the sciatic nerve, the blood, and the internal organs.
4. Meat and dairy products cannot be mixed. This means that meat and dairy products cannot be cooked together, eaten together, or served on the same dishes or utensils.
5. There is a separate set of rules for keeping kosher during Passover. During Passover, only unleavened bread can be eaten, and all leavened products must be removed from the home.
