Where does Kosher Salt come from?

The origins of kosher salt go back thousands of years to ancient sea salt production in the Middle East, where it was extracted from the Dead Sea. It was traditionally used in koshering, a process of removing all blood from meat to make it fit for consumption according to Jewish dietary laws.

Its versatility in cooking expanded well beyond its origins and became popular due to its consistent texture, lack of additives or preservatives, and strong brine flavor.

Today, kosher salt is widely available in grocery stores and is commonly used as an all-purpose salt for cooking, baking, and seasoning in various cuisines.
