Is it safe to eat water marbles?

Water marbles, also known as "orbeez," should not be consumed. While they are considered non-toxic, water marbles are generally made of superabsorbent polymer (SAP) material, which is similar to that found in disposable diapers. When ingested, SAP is capable of absorbing large amounts of liquid in the gastrointestinal tract and expanding considerably in size. This can potentially lead to serious medical issues, such as intestinal obstruction, bowel perforation, and internal bleeding.

The ingestion of water marbles can be particularly risky for children and individuals with underlying gastrointestinal conditions. If someone has accidentally swallowed a water marble, it is crucial to seek prompt medical attention and avoid taking any further action such as inducing vomiting or self-treatment.
