How to Make Mushroom Curry

Mushroom curry is a vegetarian Indian dish. There are several ways to make it, and most of the ingredients are optional except for the mushrooms. It can be made with more or less mushrooms according to the maker's taste. Mushroom curry is usually served with rice.

Things You'll Need

  • 350 g mushrooms
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp garlic & ginger finely chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 150 g fresh peas or frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

Instructions

  1. Cut the mushrooms into small, thin slices.

  2. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan. Add the garlic and ginger and fry it for 2 minutes. Add the onion. When it is golden brown, add the tomato puree.

  3. Put in the red chilli, turmeric powder and garam masala. Stir the curry for 30 seconds.

  4. Add the mushrooms and peas and stir fry them for 2 minutes.

  5. Add 1 cup of water. Stir the mix and bring it to a boil. Add the remaining ingredients and cover the curry. Cook it uncovered on low heat for 20 minutes or until the water is gone.

  6. Garnish the finished curry with the coriander leaves.
