Where does food go after aten?

After food is eaten, it travels down the esophagus and into the stomach. The stomach is a muscular organ that churns and mixes the food with stomach acid, breaking it down into smaller pieces. The food then travels into the small intestine, where it is further broken down by enzymes from the pancreas and bile from the liver. The small intestine is lined with tiny villi, which are finger-like projections that help absorb the nutrients from the food. The undigested food then passes into the large intestine, where water and electrolytes are absorbed. The remaining waste products are stored in the rectum until they are excreted.
