How to Make Irish Stew and Dumplings (9 Steps)
Irish stew and dumplings is a filling, mouth-watering, classic Irish stew. The sauce is rich and thick, and the tender lamb will melt in your mouth. Warm up with a big bowl of Irish stew and dumplings on a cold day.
Things You'll Need
- Water or meat stock
- Salt
- Freshly ground pepper
- Diced carrots
- Dicked, cooked lamb
- Sliced onions
- Diced turnip
- Diced celery
- Fresh parsley
- Potatoes, cubed
- All-purpose flour
- Flour
- Butter
- Milk
- Water

Place the meat in a large pot or dutch oven and pour enough meat stock or water to cover it. Season it with salt and freshly-ground pepper.

Stir in the carrots, onions, turnip, celery, potatoes and fresh parsley and cook the stew for 35 minutes.

Thicken the stew with flour if needed, and add the dumplings.
