How to Use a Vacuum Wine Saver

There are many types of wine preservers on the market today to help preserve an opened bottle of wine. Some use vacuum seals. Red wine will typically last two to three days in a temperature controlled environment. However, a wine saver can help extend the life of the leftover wine.

Instructions

  1. Discard the cork from the opened bottle of wine. You will not need the wine's original cork, because the vacuum pack comes with its own cork.

  2. Place the plastic vacuum-pack cork into the opened wine bottle. It will be loose at first but air-tight when you are finished.

  3. Place the vacuum over the plastic cork so it fits tight. Begin to pull on the lever, which removes the air inside the bottle. Continue to pull the lever until you hear a clicking noise. When you hear this, the air has been removed from the bottle.
