Is my Red tailed shark male or female?

There are a few ways to tell if your red-tailed shark is male or female.

1. Size

Males tend to be larger than females, reaching a maximum length of about 6 inches, while females typically reach a maximum length of about 4 inches.

2. Body Shape

Males typically have a more streamlined body shape, while females have a more rounded body shape.

3. Fins

The dorsal fin of a male red-tailed shark is typically taller than the dorsal fin of a female. Additionally, the pectoral fins of a male red-tailed shark are typically longer and more pointed than the pectoral fins of a female.

4. Coloration

Males typically have a more intense coloration than females. The red coloration on the tail of a male red-tailed shark is typically brighter and more vibrant than the red coloration on the tail of a female. Additionally, males may also have a black or dark brown stripe on the side of their body.

5. Behavior

Males are typically more aggressive than females. Males may chase and nip other fish, including other red-tailed sharks. Females are typically more peaceful and less likely to display aggressive behavior.

It's important to note that these are just general guidelines and there can be some variation among individuals.
