What Does A Molly Eat?

Herbivores

* Algae: Molly fish are omnivorous, but they primarily eat algae. They will scrape algae from rocks, plants, and other surfaces in the aquarium.

* Plants: Molly fish also eat plants, including both live and artificial plants. They prefer soft-leaved plants, such as anacharis, water sprite, and hornwort.

* Vegetables: Molly fish can also be fed vegetables, such as zucchini, cucumber, and carrots. These should be blanched before feeding to the fish.

Carnivores

* Insects: Molly fish will also eat insects, such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and mosquito larvae. These can be fed to the fish live or frozen.

* Fish: Molly fish may also eat small fish, such as guppies and neon tetras. However, it is important to note that molly fish are not typically aggressive fish, and they will only eat small fish that are already sick or injured.

Additional Tips

* Feed molly fish several times a day, but only give them what they can eat in a few minutes.

* Variety is important, so offer molly fish a variety of foods, including algae, plants, vegetables, and insects.

* Avoid overfeeding molly fish, as this can lead to health problems, such as obesity and constipation.
