Does a saltwater hermit crab have to live in saltwater?
Saltwater hermit crabs, as their name suggests, are adapted to living in saltwater environments. They require the specific water conditions found in the ocean, such as salinity, pH, and temperature, in order to survive and thrive. While they can tolerate short-term exposure to freshwater, they cannot survive long-term in freshwater habitats.
