What do kingfisher birds use their feet for?
Kingfishers do not use their feet to catch prey. They have sharp, pointed beaks which they use to spear fish in the water. Their feet are primarily used for perching and grasping their favorite perches like tree limbs that overhang water sources. However, kingfishers' toes and feet can sometimes be used to manipulate and carry other objects such as nesting material during mating season.
