What is a gelfishter?

A gelfishter is someone who intentionally steals belongings from hotel rooms. Gelfishters typically enter a hotel room when it's empty and take whatever they can, such as electronics, jewelry, or money. They may even take the television or other large items. These thieves may sometimes leave behind "gifts" of their own—such as dirty dishes, cigarette butts, or used shampoo.
