Why were Oreos created?

Oreo cookies were not created for any specific reason, but rather came about as a result of experimentation and innovation by the National Biscuit Company (now known as Mondelez International). The company was looking to create a new type of cookie that was both delicious and visually appealing, and they eventually developed the Oreo in 1912. The name Oreo is believed to be derived from the French word for gold, "or", which may have been chosen because of the golden color of the cookie.
