What is the life span of a hermit crab?

Hermit crabs have different life spans depending on their species. In general, however, most hermit crab species live for around 10-30 years. Some species, such as the strawberry hermit crab (Clibanarius erythropus), have been known to live for up to 50 years in captivity.

The life span of a hermit crab is influenced by a number of factors, including its environment, diet, and overall health. Hermit crabs that live in warm, humid environments with access to a varied diet and plenty of hiding places tend to live longer than those that live in cooler, drier environments with limited food and shelter. In addition, hermit crabs that are regularly handled and well-cared for tend to live longer than those that are left alone or mistreated.
