What do the kingfisher eat?

Kingfishers are piscivorous birds that mainly feed on small fish, such as minnows, sticklebacks, and gudgeon. They will also occasionally take insects, amphibians, and small reptiles. Kingfishers hunt by perching on a branch or rock overhanging the water and then diving down to catch their prey. They have a long, sharp bill that is perfect for spearing fish. Kingfishers are able to see their prey from a long distance away, and they can even catch fish that are swimming beneath the surface of the water.
