Do baby jellyfish hatch out of eggs?
Some jellyfish species hatch from eggs, while others give birth to live young. Those that hatch from eggs typically go through a series of developmental stages, including a polyp stage and a medusa stage. During the polyp stage, the jellyfish is attached to a surface and looks like a small, fleshy growth. The medusa stage is the familiar, free-swimming form of the jellyfish.
